In Armenia, when a child gets its first tooth its seen as a landmark and they celebrate by putting the baby on the floor and placing a variety of items and tools such as a wooden spoon, a book, a calculator, a tape measure and other objects. The child is encouraged to look at all the items and then choose one.
Whatever object is chosen signifies their future, a wooden spoon for a chef, a tape measure for an architect, or possibly a book for a writer. Hopefully time will tell!
